More Hockey

This weekend we had more hockey. The team did well and our little defenseman had two goals and a few assists.

The funniest clip is when a player is holding onto him while Matthew skated the puck and scored...it looked the beginning of a congo line...and the ref didn't call a penalty...a weird game altogether...but the boys won and most importantly, they had fun.

The girls and I drove back last night since Lauren and me were both serving at church. Hannah had All Star practice...tomorrow? Laundry and no hockey. We don't have any hockey. My car gets to stay in the garage and I am very happy. I am a blessed woman, no doubt about it.

I am posting the link for the video (so you can see it in better quality) in addition to the video.

Did I Tell You?

Did I tell you my method for getting Hannah to be confidant and skate the puck down the ice? She has only been playing for a year now and she is on an all boy team, playing against boys, so she was a little cautious about grabbing the puck and heading for the net. I offered a pedicure for skating it down the ice and a manicure if she skated and took a shot on goal. It worked. She was fearless. What will the girl not do for a little beauty treatment?

I forgot to include this picture in my birthday post

Hannah after her facial. The facial was for missing Matthew's trip to South Bend to play in her All Star Game...She really wanted to see Notre Dame

Fifteen

Hannah turned 15! She is growing up so fast and I could not be more proud of my beautiful daughter. She had boy problems on her birthday but kept her chin up. I have to tell you I would not want to be a teenager in this day of social media for the all the money and beautiful skin in the world.

After serving and worshiping at Church, we made our way to PF Changs for dinner. It was delicious and somewhat noisy with all the weather alerts going off on all the cell phones. Welcome to the world of technology...it's noisy.

My friend baked her cake and personalized it with a hockey player. The best part is what Hannah wanted for her birthday...the NHL package on DirecTV...she got it. Love this girl.

Bice on Ice, the Dream Team

Hannah's House League Team needed another skater....my solution? Add Matthew...he required permission to go from a non-checking league to a checking league...Our Favorite Martin obtained the permission necessary last week and he was good to go. It was a very good thing because that night, Hannah and another teammate were absent. Matthew defended the goal and Hannah's team won.

Last night, my two favorite players hit the ice together. Proudest Mom moment I might ever have in my life is when Matthew assisted Hannah's goal and they both gave each other a HUGE hug. I wish I had a picture but no, I will just have to remember the moment. I have some not so great pictures of my Dream Team. Yep, I am bragging...I love my kids.

And what would a post of mine be like without a swiped social media picture?

One Weekend. Two Championships

A great weekend of hockey for both of my players. Matthew's and Hannah's teams both won their tournaments this weekend. It's good day.

And We're Off!

Matthew has two games under his belt and Hannah starts her tournament at 12:50. Here are the photos I have so far (One I stole from Facebook and the other is a screenshot from Matthew's morning Snapchat to me).

It's Friday!

Friday is here and things are hopping. The boys are on a road trip to South Bend, Indiana for hockey and the girls are here for hockey at home. Hannah has a tournament so we were not able to join the boys for the hockey tournament up north but I am enjoying my girl time.

I will keep you updated on how the two tournaments are going and let's hope I have some pictures to share with you!

My Offensive Defenseman

Matthew's team didn't fare so well this weekend but my favorite defenseman was outstanding. He worked hard and never quit. I couldn't be prouder.

A little video of his goal this past weekend. Watch this boy skate. Love it!

Boomerangs

Yesterday, I sent the kids back to school. I worked out and took a nap. I didn't realize our quiet Christmas Vacation was quite so exhausting...apparently, it was...because it was a long nap, a really long nap.

Last  night, we were back on schedule. I made dinner and took Matthew to the Rink. The kids were all bubbling over with mirth due to the announcement school was being canceled today for wintry weather. Here it is, 9:31 a.m. on Friday and it is cold and it is windy but there isn't any ice...or snow. I am a bit disappointed there is no snow. There is nothing like the quiet beauty of snow falling and being in the South, that doesn't happen much.

There you have it...I sent the kids to school yesterday and today they're back...just like a boomerang.

I forgot to add these pics of Greg and Matthew from his 4 on 4 Tournament last week. Don't you love his hair??? I do. Who knew he had such beautiful locks of hair. I am so glad he decided to grow it out.

My Birthday

Feeling a little under-funded due to travel hockey and Christmas, I asked for a family walk up on Monte Sano. It's beautiful and I had a great time with my favorite people.

After, we went to Farm Burger for a bit of refreshment...looking very ratty (the entire family) we ran into Roo's ex-boyfriend..with his new girlfriend. This sucked a bit of fun out of our day. I am praying God takes the sting out of her heart and future run ins will leave her less rattled.

The day continued on a downward slide after this. We got a police text that there was a shooting at the Sonic by our subdivision...not even a 1/4 mile from our house. We went outside and saw the crime scene tape, police cars, firetruck, and ambulance. The ambulance pulled away with the police cruiser following and lights on...a few hours later, we discovered the boy died, he lives almost right behind us, his sister is in two of Matthew's classes and also in Lauren's Small Group at Church. It left us all a bit off for the next few days. Matthew now understands why I don't let them go off alone. We live in a fabulous neighborhood. This shouldn't happen but drugs find their ways into the best of neighborhoods and we are no exception.

I asked the girls to make me spaghetti and meatballs for my birthday dinner and it was fabulous. My cupcakes were delicious AND beautiful. Here are some pictures of the good parts of our day.
