Changes

Today, the holes were dug for the concrete footings for our house. Oh joy! AND the house down the street with the same floor plan was having an open house. (I think I told you we liked the house but it reeked of male cat urine.) It also backed up to a busy street and had a very large backyard and part of the purpose of moving was smaller lot => less upkeep. (Too Hot, Too Humid, Too much hockey to be taking care of the 1/2 acre mowing and edging AND weeding, weeds are a thorn in my side)

So, we looked at the house, and we decided to make a few changes:

- add French Doors and recessed lighting to office
- put wood floor in upstairs hall
- a better paint in kitchen, breakfast area, foyer, stairs, and hall
- a second oven and microwave where the cabinet closest to the laundry room is with a vent over range
- centering fireplace with bookshelves on each side
- solar tubes in Hannah's room for more light
- recessed lighting in kitchen
- hainting on front and back porch
- bead board in Dining Room
- White Cabinets in kitchen, laundry and Master Bath, not sure about guest and kids' bathroom...if it costs more, no...if same price, yes.
- Trying to convince G that MBR needs another window or 3 windows centered on wall like the breakfast area. I feel claustrophobic in the BR...he is convinced it is the brown walls and black furniture...I say "Let there be light."

We went appliance shopping and I think we both short circuited. The Builder's allowance is pretty small so money is going to be coming out of pocket...the question is...How much money? Same with the carpet...$2 a sq ft for carpet, pad, and installation isn't conducive to the beating my kids will give it.

So...here are some pictures...use your imagination...and there will be NO brown. I refuse to live in a cardboard box any longer. COLOR is the word of the day...or the house...
