The Willoughbys

A little sweet Facebook friend had a status wishing for a life free of Willoughbys. This would only have meaning to my kindred spirits out there who have read Sense and Sensibility. I could not help but think I would not be 19 again for the world. The Willoughbys are so attractive they draw you in like honey to a bee. You think you have found "The One." The One that gets you, the one who will never break your heart...only to find out that Willoughby is selfish, using you to pass the time or distract him from the monotony of his life, Willoughby has expensive habits and tastes, and just like Willoughby, he will realize what a great thing he passed on later...and unfortunately, just like Willoughby, he will not die of a broken heart. He won't have a perfectly unhappy marriage...Oh, my sweet Jane Austen...you hit the nail on the head with the character Willoughby, he breaks most of our hearts at some point in our lives...and most of us, don't have a Colonel Brandon available when we come to our senses.
